Understand your reason for bulking up

First i want you to actually think and understand why you're doing this. why is this important for you? How will being bigger & stronger improve your life? Maybe it's confidence, really connect with how that increase confidence will make you feel. Make it personal!

Making a plan & sticking to it

You must make a plan of action. Simply 'eating & training more' is not a plan. You must know when, what, where & why you're training/eating that day/week/month.

Without a plan, there is nothing to track. Without tracking, there is no way to see if what you're doing is working and/or needs changing/improving.


Trusting the process, it probably takes longer than you think

Building your dream body is not easy. That's why people are so damn impressed when you finally do! Don't think you can just rock up to the gym a couple times a week, chug a protein shake and be done with it. This process takes time & effort - but it's so worth it!


"Skipping a meal isn't a big deal"

Skipping one meal probably isn't going to be a problem in the long run, no. but it's the mindset around this that is the problem.

You should be treating every single meal like it's important, because, it is!

Consistency is the biggest factor between making results & frustration. Those who commit - make results. those who don't - give up.

Don't let the weight on the scale get you down

Although you're trying to gain weight (muscle), the scale isn't always your best friend. Our weight fluctuates, just because you didn't gain any weight this week doesn't make it a write off.

I want you to always consider these things as well as your weight

Understanding eating lots isn't always going to be fun

Whenever people ask how much i eat and i reply with '4500 calories a day' the instant response is 'oh that must be fun' - if you've ever tried eating broccoli when you're not hungry you will in fact know, it is not.

It's important to understand that to build muscle, you must eat a lot. it doesn't matter if you're full & don't feel like it. If you need to hit your calories, you gotta eat!


Gaining a little body fat is normal

Unless you get your calories to the exact number your body requires to survive & grow every day (near impossible), a little fat gain is inevitable. Don't fear it, this is what a shredding phase later is for! Just Avoid trying to gain too much weight at once. You should never been gaining more than 1lb per week
