How fitness can help your business as well as your health!

I know what you’re thinking… a personal trainer trying to convince you that fitness is the best thing since sliced bread, how original. But don’t give up on me just yet. I know what it’s like; I’ve trained many people in the same boat as you right now “I’d like to get fit & healthy, but I’m just too busy – work is crazy right now” sound familiar? I get it don’t worry, I literally work in a gym and my schedule can be so crazy even I occasionally struggle. But this isn’t me asking you to become Arnold and commit your life to the place, just 2-3 hours of your week.
But can taking time away from work really benefit work as well as your health? Hell yes.
Boost your confidence
Confidence is key to running a successful business. It’s easy for your busy schedule to let time pass you by (quicker than you’d like) and you stop looking after yourself and before you know it BOOM, who’s that looking back at you in the mirror? Or maybe it’s not an appearance thing, maybe you just haven’t been winning as often as you’d like? Taking on a fitness challenge can do wonders for both. A new appearance & small victories will make you feel on top of the world.
Give your brain a rest with a PT
If you either run your own business, or are managing people every day, it can sometimes feel like your brain is in constant overdrive (especially if you then go home to small children!). Always thinking about what other people are doing as well as yourself will overkill anybody’s brain eventually. Get yourself to the gym, get yourself a PT (pick me) and let somebody else be in charge for an hour of your day. I’ve trained many people who say it’s such a relief to be able to escape all that and just be told what to do for once. It helps you realise that you don’t have to be stressing and in charge ALL of the time.
Overcoming business challenges
Stuck in a rut at work? Not too sure how to attack a new project? Setting fitness goals can take you back to your earlier days, when you had more energy and excitement about something new. Setting yourself new challenges and planning how to achieve them in the gym are all skills you’re able to take back to the office with you! Not only this, but reaching your ‘less important’ fitness goals can really motivate you to committing to reaching your goals in general.
Build your brain as well as your guns, break those bad habits!
You’ve had a stressful day at work, what are you likely to do as soon as you get home? Put some greasy food in the oven, sit down and not move for the foreseeable future? Sounds about right and I know this sounds appealing, but it really isn’t helping! You’re holding onto that stress, filling your body full of junk and slobbing about – doesn’t sound quite as pretty when you put it like that.
Get yourself to the gym on the way home from work DO NOT GO HOME FIRST, that sofa looks extra comfy when you have to leave again. Get a good workout in, kill some bad energy and find whatever helps you relieve that stress. Once you get home, you’ll feel more positive & you’ll naturally want to eat healthier so you don’t feel like you’ve wasted your time. Don’t forget you’ll get a better night sleep too!
Work smarter, not harder!
Commit yourself to the gym, dedicate some set hours to the week & make sure you attend. I’ve seen this massively help some clients who tend to work 16 hour days by accident. Being committed to something will get you out of work and will help prevent you burning out – I’ve been there and 100% do not recommend.
Being physically fit and healthy won’t just keep your doctor happy, you will feel more energetic and there’s an amazing sense of well-being when you notice your results. This will without doubt help you work harder in all aspects of your life.
Energy
Let’s be honest, EVERY SINGLE PERSON you ever speak to these days is tired and run down. We live in a crazy little world at the moment, when there quite literally aren’t enough hours in the day to catch up on sleep. It’s shown that a quick morning workout can increase energy throughout the day, improve the quality of sleep you are getting and can reduce fatigue by up to 65%, not too shabby!
Stress
Exercise has been shown time and time again to help us reduce stress and increase the feel good endorphins, how this will benefit your work life is pretty self-explanatory.. I won’t bore you with studies proving how reduced stress can improve, well, everything.
